The Rector of the University of Pristina, based in North Mitrovica, Nebojša Arsić, stated that this morning, unknown individuals in civilian clothes came to the Rectorate of the University in North Mitrovica demanding that the Faculty of Technical Sciences either vacate the premises within 30 days or sign an agreement with the Pristina University.
Nova.rs reached out to the Northern Kosovo Police region, who said they do not comment on such matters.
According to unofficial sources, the relocation request for FTN is being initiated by the Pristina University within the Kosovo system.
Rector Arsić told Kosovo Online that all staff at the Rectorate were unpleasantly surprised this morning.
“We were all unpleasantly surprised. We don’t know if they were police; the individuals were in civilian clothing. They brought a document from the University of Pristina stating that the building of the Faculty of Technical Sciences is located on land that belongs to the University of Pristina, and they demand that the faculty either vacate within 30 days or enter into some contractual relationship with them. We checked the cadastral parcels where the Faculty of Technical Sciences is located. These are ‘Trepčine parcels,’ and the building has never been owned by the University of Pristina, not even before the war,” Arsić explained.
He added that the situation has been reported to the highest authorities in Serbia, and they are waiting to see what the response will be.
“We have also informed representatives of the international community. Our representatives are currently in talks with them to clarify the matter. However, this is just further proof that Pristina intends to go after our University, our University,” emphasized the rector.
