Novak Djokovic has decided to leave the Professional Tennis Players Association, which he founded together with Vasek Pospisil, and the decision has attracted a lot of attention.
Fans point out that they were primarily shocked when they read the first 11 words that Djokovic posted, as the withdrawal sounded to many like a retirement announcement, but they soon realized that the Serb was leaving the PTPA.
The reactions of fans are interesting, as almost everyone is sharing Novak’s motivational messages, above all what he said when he was under attack from all sides.
“Stand up for what you believe in, even if it means standing alone,” the Serbian ace said.
After careful consideration, I have decided to step away completely from the Professional Tennis Players Association. This decision comes after ongoing concerns regarding transparency, governance, and the way my voice and image have been represented.

Many see his exit from the organization as a “Djexit,” alluding to the famous “Brexit,” and as many as eight million people saw this Novak decision on Twitter alone, which now appears completely unexpected. Still, it partly explains why he did not want to sign the PTPA lawsuit from March 2025. Even then, the Serb said that there were things in the lawsuit itself that he did not agree with.
This decision comes just seven days before the first tournament Djokovic will play in 2026, which means that ahead of the competition in Adelaide he decided to part ways with the PTPA. Many see it as an organization that took up too much of his time and energy, and that failed to achieve the goals for which it was founded.
I will continue to focus on my tennis, my family, and contributing to the sport in ways that reflect my principles and integrity. I wish the players and those involved the best as they move forward, but for me, this chapter is now closed.

Here is how Novak Djokovic himself explained his withdrawal from the PTPA.
“After careful consideration, I have made the decision to fully withdraw from the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA). This decision comes after ongoing concerns regarding transparency, governance, and the way my voice and image were represented,” Djokovic wrote on social media.
He continued in the same tone, reminding that he participated in founding this useful organization together with Vasek Pospisil, whom he has known for a long time and is also friends with off the court.
“I am proud of the vision I shared with Vasek when founding the PTPA, giving players a stronger, independent voice – but it has become clear that my values and approach are no longer aligned with the organization’s current direction.”
