In a show of support for the detained Bogdan Jovičić, a student of the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, who has been on a hunger strike in recent days, support rallies were organized today in several cities across the country. Bogdan’s detention has been extended for another 30 days, and yesterday, due to health complications, he was transferred to the hospital of the District Prison in Belgrade.

The students in the blockade called on citizens to two gatherings in Belgrade, in front of the Faculty of Law and on Avijatičarski Trg in Zemun, starting at 6 p.m., while in Novi Sad, the protest will be organized on campus at 6:30 p.m. Protests in support of student Bogdan are also being organized tonight in Niš, Kragujevac, Čačak and Užice.

Citizens of Užice gathered to support student Bogdan, as well as Pavle Cicvarić, who is from this city.

The organizers read out four demands – that Bogdan be released to defend himself from freedom, all farmers from Novi Sad, as well as all those who are charged with attacking the Cobras and the withdrawal of the controversial amendments to the Criminal Code.

The plan is to walk to the courthouse and police station.

Protest in the Novi Sad Campus: “Justice is returning to the streets”
Citizens of Novi Sad gathered at the University Campus at a rally in support of student Bogdan Jovičić.

When a sufficient number of people gathered, as the students said, they started a protest walk that will go along Cara Lazara Boulevard.

This is not only a student protest, but also a citizens’ protest, they remind that – “the green light has been turned on”.

In front of the City Hall in Subotica, a rally was held today in support of the student of the Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad, Bogdan Jovičić, who is in custody for alleged participation in the demolition of the Novi Sad premises of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).

The participants of the gathering, which lasted about an hour, blew whistles and carried a banner with the inscription “Freedom cannot be chained”.

“Bogdan has been on a hunger strike for seven days, after he was ordered to be detained for 30 days on August 14, and then extended for another month on September 11. During his detention, Bogdan’s father passed away, and he only found out about the news five days later. He was taken to the funeral in shackles, humiliated and chained in front of the eyes of his loved ones, accompanied by three police officers,” the group of citizens stated in the invitation to the rally.

The gathered people said that this protest is not only a support for Jovičić, but also a fight for dignity, freedom and justice.

The rally was secured by the Subotica police.

Citizens arrived in front of the RTS building

A column of citizens and students that started from the Faculty of Law arrived in front of the Radio Television of Serbia building in Takovska Street.

The dissatisfied citizens are whistling and honking.

In Takovska, just below the RTS building, a car driver, according to unofficial information, hit a police officer who was on a motorcycle.

The column of students at the intersection of Takovska and Ilije Garašanina Street waited for the ambulance team to arrive from the direction of Kneza Miloša Street and the injured person was taken away, reported the Beta agency reporter.

They are continuing their protest walk towards the Palace of Justice.
