Greek Marinos Ricudis, a former naval officer who was sentenced to imprisonment for refusing to participate in the NATO attack on our country, sent a powerful message on the anniversary of the bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia!
-I do not forget – Ricudis wrote in Greek and Serbian on his social media profile.
Ricdis also published an emotional poem dedicated to Serbia and pictures of children killed during the 78 days of NATO aggression.

-My little free country, my great Serbia, I dreamed of you last night flying high, you were Nemanja’s eagle, you shone, you landed on my hand, you held a strange tricolor rose White with red leaves, fresh as if it hadn’t been picked. You had blue, eternally free eyes, white wrinkles, heroic lines written in history, spread out in your flight, your red petals, living blood in the veins of your heroes. I held you in my hand, my free Homeland, and walked, walked, proudly walked, how beautiful you were? How much light? I didn’t want to leave you, where to put you down? The whole world is my heart… Your whole heart, my world… – Ricudis wrote on his Facebook profile.
Ricudis, who was the commander of a warship, the decision to refuse the order to participate in the aggression against FRY in 1999, let us recall, cost him his military career. The public and many Greek soldiers stood by him, however, the military court sentenced him to two and a half years in prison. He was also expelled from military service.
-As an Orthodox, I cannot participate in an attack on a brotherly people – Ricudis said at the time.
In an interview with Telegraf on one occasion he said that “real Greeks” are proud of what he did.
-They talk about it with pride. But, you know yourself that not only “real” Greeks live in Greece… The truth is, however, that I don’t care what people think – Ricudis said on that occasion.
The Holy Synod of Bishops of the SPC awarded Ricudis the Order of Saint Emperor Constantine, there are several murals throughout Serbia, and a street in Niš was named after him.
