Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Belgrade, Obrenovac Police Station, in cooperation with the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade – Department for Minors, will file a criminal complaint against two minors due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of serious acts against general safety in co-perpetration.
They are suspected of causing a fire on April 10 of this year in which the “Suvobor” mill building in Obrenovac, owned by a company in bankruptcy, burned down.
I remind you, through the action of members of the Police Station in Obrenovac, in cooperation with the Department for Minors of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office (VJT) in Belgrade, two minors suspected of arson in which the “Suvobor” mill building was completely burned down on April 10 were identified, and the turnaround in the investigation and the rapid identification of the perpetrators occurred thanks to a key witness.
One of the residents spotted the minor M. K. at the moments when the fire was breaking out. The witness clearly saw the boy exiting the mill building immediately before the fire grew out of control, which allowed the investigative authorities to immediately assemble the mosaic of this crime.
This was not the first time that the same boy targeted “Suvobor.” According to our findings, he also attempted to set fire to the same building on March 14. At that time, tragedy was avoided only thanks to the rapid reaction of firefighters who managed to extinguish the flames before they spread.
