Frederik Cornelius, who presents himself on social media as a musician and traveler, has been sharing impressions from Serbia for months, and in recent days he has devoted special attention to a city that is, in his opinion, the best in the country.
As he pointed out, it was Niš that left the strongest impression on him, describing it as a true hidden gem of Serbia.
Niš won him over with food, culture, and atmosphere
Frederik stated that he was particularly thrilled in Niš by the combination of excellent food, local culture, and the Nišava River, but that was only the beginning of his enthusiasm.
According to his words, Niš is one of the most incredible cities in the entire Balkans. He was especially impressed by the city’s rich history, above all the fact that it is the birthplace of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great.
Additionally, his attention was caught by the Niš Fortress, the beautiful buildings in the city, as well as the Monument to the Liberators of Niš.
Particularly thrilled by street life and the kafana spirit
However, what he perhaps liked the most was not just the history and architecture, but the atmosphere he found on the streets. As he noticed, people are outside every day, socializing, sitting in kafanas, and enjoying life.
It was exactly that spirit of the city that left a strong impression on him and made him feel especially welcome in Niš.
During his stay in Niš, he wanted to experience a true kafana atmosphere. Everything, as he says, began quite normally — he went for a quiet dinner, ordered a salad and meat, and then the situation completely changed.
The evening soon turned into a celebration that he obviously did not expect.
“Suddenly, I am no longer a guy from Denmark in Serbia. I am dancing. I am shouting. I am feeling the rhythm. I have never felt more like a Balkanite in my entire life. I think I received Serbian citizenship within five minutes,” he joked.
