School sport in Serbia knows no bounds. Behind us is a brilliantly organized European 3×3 Basketball Championship, in the high school category, which was held from June 13 to 19 in Belgrade.

The European 3×3 Basketball Championship for high school students was held on the courts of the Partizan Tennis Club – Porsche Arena, under the patronage of the European School Sport Federation (ESSF), organized by the Serbian School Sport Federation and with the support of the Ministry of Sport, the Belgrade City Secretariat for Sport and Youth, and the Belgrade Association for School Sport. The main tennis court was transformed into a modern 3×3 basketball arena with a scoreboard and accompanying equipment, and the atmosphere was worthy of major international competitions.

The championship was opened by Nikola Penic, City Secretary for Sport and Youth, Ivan Dujic, President of the European School Sport Federation, and Andrea Arsovic, President of the Belgrade Association for School Sport. Among those present were Stelios Daskalakis, Grigor Hristov, Gorica Bilak Moconja, and Radics Balas (ESSF), Predrag Kanacki and Dejan Djokic from the Basketball Federation of Serbia. The anthem was performed by vocal soloist Nikolina Kivacevic, and the program was hosted by the famous presenter Milos Radenkovic. The competition was graced by the presence of the Minister of Sport Zoran Gajic, ISF President Zeljko Tanaskovic, and the Sport Councilor of the Stari Grad municipality Nedeljko Jovanovic.

The championship featured high school teams from Serbia, Turkey, Croatia, England, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Republika Srpska, and Slovakia (boys), as well as Serbia, Bulgaria, Croatia, England, Montenegro, Republika Srpska, Slovakia, and Turkey (girls).

In the boys’ category, England won gold, North Macedonia silver, and Serbia bronze, while in the girls’ category, the Croatian girls won, Serbia reached the silver, and third place was taken by Turkey. The medals were presented by Ivan Dujic, Nedeljko Jovanovic, and Andrea Arsovic.

In addition to the sporting excitement, the young athletes had the opportunity to get to know Belgrade – they visited the city center and Kalemegdan, and the Nations Night resonated particularly well, where the participants presented products from their countries and danced the Serbian kolo together to the sounds of traditional songs. The European 3×3 Basketball Championship showed that school sport in Serbia has the power to gather, inspire, and leave lasting memories.
