It is the sixth day of fires in Montenegro. The situation is most critical in the Podgorica area, where houses and buildings were defended last night, but in the village of Radeća in Piperi, the fire spread toward Radovče, and the fires are not subsiding in the village of Blizna either, according to media in Podgorica.
The fight against the fire also continues in the village of Dinoša in Tuzi and in Topolovo near Danilovgrad, and critical areas will be fought from the air today.
“It was a difficult night; we defended the houses and succeeded in that. The situation is still critical in Piperi, Blizna, and Dinoša. Today, an even larger number of teams will be sent there, and firefighting will be done from the air. A helicopter from Bosnia and Herzegovina will operate in the Tuzi area,” acting commander of the Podgorica Protection and Rescue Service, Nikola Bojanović, told RTCG Portal.
The situation was also difficult in Topolovo, in the municipality of Danilovgrad, where firefighters are still defending weekend homes today, and assistance from a Hungarian helicopter is expected.
Yesterday, seven aircraft from Montenegro, Italy, Hungary, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina were involved in extinguishing the fire, along with 86 domestic firefighters and around 100 firefighters from Austria and Switzerland.
A helicopter from the Czech Republic and the United Arab Emirates is expected today.
The situation in other cities is mostly under control, RTCG reports.
