The powerful storm that swept through most of Serbia last night left behind numerous consequences, but Smederevo suffered the worst, where scenes of major flooding and significant material damage were recorded this morning.
Heavy rain, accompanied by strong wind gusts, turned certain streets into torrents in a short time, while broken branches, fallen trees, and other debris scattered by the storm testified to the force of the bad weather that hit the city during the night.
In many parts of Smederevo, traffic was hindered, and citizens faced the consequences of one of the strongest storms to hit this part of Serbia this summer from the early morning hours.
The storm left behind great material damage, and the vehicles parked on the streets in the city center suffered the most. Photos published by the page 192.rs show cars with serious damage, caused by strong wind gusts and falling tree parts during the storm.
Additional drama during the storm was caused by the collapse of a roof from a residential building in Smederevo, when strong wind gusts damaged part of the structure. Fortunately, there were no injuries in this incident, but significant material damage was caused.
Tenants and competent services reacted immediately to assess the damage and take measures to secure the building.
One of the most striking and unusual sights after the storm was a tree branch that, due to extremely strong wind gusts, ended up at the very top of a streetlight pole.
The unusual sight bears witness to the strength of the storm that hit Smederevo and its surroundings during the night.
A powerful storm overnight affected several parts of Serbia, and apart from Smederevo, significant consequences were also recorded in Aranđelovac, Novi Pazar, Arilje, as well as in other places.
Stormy winds and heavy rainfall caused problems on the ground, while competent teams have been working since the early morning hours to remove broken branches, clear streets, and repair the resulting damage.
