The preliminary judge of the basic court of the temporary institutions in Priština has extended the detention of Miljojko Đorđević from the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica for another two months. Đorđević is accused of allegedly committing the criminal offense of war crimes against the civilian population during the conflict in Kosovo and Metohija in 1999.
His lawyer, Srđan Mitrović, stated that an appeal has been filed against this decision with the appellate court in Priština.
Miljojko Đorđević was arrested on May 15. According to the prosecutor’s office, he is suspected of having participated in the murders, deportations, robberies, and torture of Albanian civilians as a police unit commander in the municipality of Zvečan. He is also allegedly suspected of participating in the murder of seven civilians in the village of Žaža in 1999.
