The blockade of the courthouse building at Sutjeska 3 in Novi Sad was also announced for Wednesday, August 20, starting at six in the morning, which was called for by students blockading the University of Novi Sad. The blockade is planned to last during working hours until 3 p.m.
Students, with the support of assemblies from Novi Sad, decided on this move because they demand the release from detention of, as they say, all political prisoners.
Students and citizens began gathering around six o’clock this morning at the courthouse building in Novi Sad.
The demonstrators have been in front of the main entrance since 6:35 a.m., and a few are also grouped near the official entrance to the building.
The entrance on Radnička street is locked, as is the one on Maksima Gorkog street.
The police intervention unit is in the courtyard of the building near the official entrance, on whose gate there is a chain and a padlock.
Let’s recall that during yesterday’s blockade of this building, Radivoje Jovović, a provincial deputy of the Free Citizens’ Movement, and Isidora Čeleketić, a PSG activist, were detained.
They are suspected of allegedly obstructing an official in the performance of their official duty and will be held for up to 48 hours.
