Israeli authorities have caused the forced displacement of the Palestinian population in Gaza to such an extent that it constitutes war crimes and crimes against humanity, according to today’s report from the human rights organization Human Rights Watch.
The organization stated that forced displacement during the Gaza war was widespread and that evidence shows it was systematic, part of Israel’s state policy, Reuters reported.
“Such acts also constitute a crime against humanity,” the report says.
Human Rights Watch’s report is the latest in a series of reports from aid groups and international bodies warning about the severe humanitarian situation in the besieged enclave.
The Israeli military and the country’s foreign ministry were not immediately available for comment, but Israeli authorities have previously dismissed such accusations, stating that their forces operate in accordance with international law.
