A large-scale search and rescue operation is underway in the Split Gate area following a maritime accident involving a sailboat and a catamaran. The accident occurred at 11:38 a.m. in the waters between Milna on the island of Brač and the island of Šolta, where the sailboat carrying several people sank after the collision.
Police have since released an updated statement containing tragic news.
Three people lost their lives in the accident, while one person remains missing. The remaining passengers from the sailboat (four individuals) received medical assistance from emergency responders at the scene and did not require hospitalization. An on-site investigation will be conducted under the supervision of the Deputy County State Attorney, with the assistance of a traffic accident expert and police officers.

According to unofficial information, eight people have so far been rescued from the sea, while an intensive search continues for one more person.
The exact number of passengers aboard the sailboat and the circumstances that led to the collision are not yet known.
