As excitement continues over the World Championship and summer sporting events, news from Houston has made headlines across American media. One of basketball’s biggest stars, James Harden, found himself in the spotlight for reasons unrelated to the court after being detained over a firearms-related offense.
According to police reports, Harden was stopped in downtown Houston during the early morning hours while driving his Mercedes. During the traffic stop, officers allegedly noticed a handgun in a cup holder that was not properly stored. The basketball player reportedly acknowledged that the weapon belonged to him, after which he was arrested on charges of unlawfully carrying a firearm in a vehicle.

The 36-year-old guard was taken into custody but was later released on bail. A court hearing has been scheduled for June 22, while his team has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
Despite remaining one of the top players at his position, Harden has often faced criticism that off-court issues have prevented him from fully realizing his potential.
