A fish die-off has been identified in the Kolubara River in central Valjevo and further downstream in the village of Divci, Dragan Simić, a fish warden on the river, confirmed to N1. The case has been reported to the relevant authorities, water samples have been collected, and dead fish have been sent for analysis to the Veterinary Institute in Belgrade. The results of the tests are not yet known, and the cause of the environmental incident remains undetermined.
Simić said that two weeks ago he received reports from residents that several dead fish had been spotted beneath the White Bridge in downtown Valjevo.
“At the scene, I saw several nase, chub, and vimba bream floating in the water. It was not a large-scale die-off at that time, but I informed the municipal police as well as the environmental crime inspection authorities. Water samples were taken, and fish samples were sent to Belgrade for analysis,” explained Dragan Simić, a fish warden on the Kolubara River.

He added that the fish die-off in the Kolubara was also reported to the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Valjevo.
A more extensive fish die-off occurred on June 11, when dead fish were again spotted floating in the Kolubara riverbed in the city center. The following day, June 12, additional dead fish were discovered downstream in the village of Divci.
