The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, once again took on the role of competent authorities and judicial institutions with a public statement, declaring the tragic death of student Milica Živković at the Faculty of Philosophy a murder.

This claim was made without any official confirmation, as murder is not mentioned in any police report, nor in the findings of the prosecution so far.

Speaking about the protests and the opposition, Vučić made a series of sharp comparisons, also mentioning a bizarre remark about folk customs, only to directly accuse political opponents of alleged crimes afterwards:

“Have you heard anywhere that there is a custom of giving 40 days for a dog that was run over by an ambulance? There is among our blockaders. There isn’t anywhere. Have you heard that anywhere? You are pious people, you have a church in every village. There’s no such thing anywhere, nobody has heard that. So, as far as their commemoration is concerned, during that time I will walk around and see what we are doing and do something more for the people. But I hope they won’t kill anyone else, and I hope they will sometimes remember the murdered Milica Živković at the Faculty of Philosophy,” Vučić stated.

While the competent authorities are still determining all the circumstances under which the student died on the plateau of the Faculty of Philosophy, the head of state once again presented his own conclusion to the public, continuing the practice of interfering in the work of the judiciary and politicizing sensitive cases.
