The head coach of the Croatian national water polo team, Ivica Tucak, was one of the main guests of the regional sports symposium “Simposar” in Istria, and on that occasion, he gave an interview in which he looked back on the decade-long rivalry between the “Barracudas” and the “Dolphins”, but above all, he sent a powerful human message that echoed through the region.
Tucak, who for years has nurtured a close friendship with the former Serbian head coach Dejan Savic, pointed out that the sporting fight must never cross the boundaries of humanity.
-I have said that a million times – Belgrade is a city to which I always gladly return and in which I have a million of my dear and great friends. I feel beautiful there and I feel good – Tucak began the conversation for “Sportal” and added:
-All those friends of mine from Belgrade, whenever they can, are my guests in Sibenik. We go out a bit by boat, eat fish, and that is something no one can take away from us.

Although he proudly points out his heritage, Tucak underlined that nationality must never be an obstacle to friendship.
-I love my homeland the most in the world, I am a Croat and I am proud of that fact, but likewise, never in my life will I allow myself to hate someone because they are a Serb. Never in my life. For me, a friend is a friend, a man is a man, and nationality is something completely else – Ivica Tucak concluded.
