Academician Radomir Saičić, a candidate on the Student List, addressed supporters after the victory was declared, speaking during celebrations at the campaign headquarters. He said they would not forget why they began their struggle and that the construction of a new Serbia begins tomorrow.

We reproduce Academician Saičić’s speech in full:

“Dear Serbia, tonight the voice of the people, the voice of freedom, is being heard. Tonight, the citizens of Serbia have shown that no obstacle is greater than their will, that no fear is stronger than courage, and that no fear can overcome a people who have decided to take their destiny into their own hands.

Every citizen of Serbia, whether in the country or far away from it, cast their vote and showed that they care about the future of this country. That will must be respected without exception, without excuses, and without attempts to rewrite what the citizens have clearly said! Preliminary results show that the Student List has won at every polling station. Tonight is about people, about all those who believed when things were at their hardest and who did not give up when they were told that nothing could change, but continued fighting despite everything.

This is a victory of courage over fear, a victory of hope over indifference, a victory of faith that Serbia can and must be different. Thank you for every step, every hour, every sacrifice and every moment in which you chose not to give up. Thank you to everyone who raised their voice, who stood by one another and who showed that the future of this country belongs not to a handful of people, but to all its citizens. This victory is no one’s personal trophy; it belongs to all of us.

Dear Serbia, a great victory brings great responsibility, and that is why tonight we call on all citizens to celebrate peacefully, with dignity and pride, not to fall for provocations, not to engage in confrontations and not to allow anyone to overshadow what we have achieved together. In response to every attempt to divide us, we will demonstrate even greater solidarity, faith in justice, solidarity and nonviolence. Tonight, we celebrate in the way Serbia knows best: with songs and tears of joy. We celebrate without hatred, because the freedom we want will be freedom for everyone.

Tomorrow, the work of building a Serbia begins — a Serbia where the law applies equally to everyone, where the truth is not punished, where knowledge is respected, where young people can see their future and where no one is afraid to think differently. We promise that we will not forget why we began, nor the people who placed their trust in us. We will not forget our responsibility to the people. Serbia is its people, their hope and struggle, and their right to live with dignity.

With the students, hope has triumphed — the hope that Serbia can be a country of justice and dignity. May this night be a night of victory in which we do not divide ourselves into winners and losers. Thank you for your trust, for your courage and for believing that Serbia can be different. Tonight, we celebrate victory; tomorrow, we celebrate the future!” Saičić said.
