Voting at a polling station in the Centar Local Community was suspended today after 3 p.m. when a member of the polling board smashed the ballot box and struck a student representative.

According to JUGpress, the ballot box was smashed by a person serving on the polling board on behalf of Rasim Ljajić’s minority list, who is employed by the Leskovac Tourist Organization.

Police are at the scene conducting an investigation, and medical personnel have also arrived. Citizens are still waiting.

“We hope this is an isolated incident, although it seems to me they will smash all the ballot boxes in urban areas, but not in rural ones. In that case, the elections will be repeated,” a polling board member told the Rešetka portal.

According to unofficial information, voting at this polling station will be repeated.

“Behind closed doors, they are currently deciding whether voting will continue or not,” one of the citizens waiting in line to vote told the Beta news agency.

The polling station is located in one of the city’s largest electoral districts, and a long queue had formed outside.

According to information provided by citizens, a new ballot box is expected to be delivered so that voting can resume.
