Partizan basketball players achieved a convincing victory in their final EuroLeague match of the season, as they managed to overcome Baskonia on their home court in the Belgrade Arena with an excellent performance by Tonye Jekiri – 91:79!

We watched a match in which Partizan was mostly the one dictating the rhythm. The black-and-whites led through a good part of the first half, often coming close to a double-digit lead.

What graced Partizan’s play was the fact that they very easily reached points from second chances after offensive rebounds. Tonye Jekiri particularly stood out in this, but Bruno Fernando was doing the same thing.

Basketball players from Partizan and Baskonia were level during the opening couple of minutes of the match. Furthermore, the guests from Vitoria managed to be the first to reach a small lead halfway through this quarter.

But Carlik Jones then got into a rhythm, started hitting difficult shots, Sterling Brown followed suit, so the black-and-whites had a six-point surplus after his triple at the end of the first period – 26:20.

When it comes to the second quarter, Partizan took the reins into its own hands and started hitting again at a very fast pace. Although that is potentially a game that suits Baskonia more, it seemed that the Belgraders managed far better in the whole “chaos.”

They were close to a double-digit lead several times, but Trent Forrest woke up just before the end of the half, so it was a five-point difference for the black-and-whites at the break – 44:39.

During the third quarter, Partizan managed to further limit the Baskonia team, which waited three and a half minutes for its first points. At those moments, the black-and-whites reached +12.

However, an 8:0 run by Baskonia followed, after which the black-and-whites nevertheless pulled themselves together and returned to the right track, so they had a seven-point lead before the final 10 minutes – 66:59.

Partizan also opened the last quarter well, although Baskonia managed to return to a somewhat smaller deficit on several occasions. Thanks to the great Tonye Jekiri, the black-and-whites constantly stayed in the game.

The great player of the black-and-whites was grabbing rebounds then, getting to free throws (and hitting them), so it was mostly thanks to him that the difference at one point reached +9 again.

Partizan actually increased its lead by the end of the match and ultimately reached a victory, so they will finish the season with a 16-22 record.
