In a moving interview, Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosna opened his soul about the suffering of innocent children, the curse of those who abuse power, and the scandalous attacks he personally experienced at holy sites.
“No one won elections on a war ideology. God will punish those who abuse power, but the people will also curse them. We live in a moment where a powerful force, with its satellite, commits such crimes against a people. Anyone who is capable of killing so many innocent children in Gaza, of bombing schools, what is that other than a curse,” says Metropolitan Hrizostom.
He told Vijesti.ba about a negative experience during his last visit to Jerusalem, when they were spat upon in the street. A Catholic priest had previously experienced a similar fate from ultra-Orthodox Jews.
“It is frightening; we walk down the street, and they spit on us without shame, without embarrassment. A person cannot go normally to bow before their shrines; they spat on us in the street, it is horrific, it is a shame. But what can you do, you are there in someone else’s country. Here too, a little more respect should be developed toward other religious communities,” the Metropolitan told us, among other things.
“We live in a very difficult time, as we see through the citizens themselves and their reactions to everything that is happening. Many young people are leaving, leaving us with a deserted land. That is sad. The state has been brought to an absurd state where we cannot even agree on what we are or what we are not,” says Metropolitan Hrizostom.
