The Serbia under-17 national football team defeated Switzerland 2:0 in the final round of the Elite round of qualifiers for the European Championship, thereby securing a spot in the World Cup.
Although it sounds paradoxical, with the triumph over Switzerland, Serbia secured a place among the four best runners-up, which earned them a spot in the tournament that will be played in November in Qatar.
As for the European Championship, Serbia was left without a place in it one round before the end, following a defeat against Belgium.
This is the first time that the Serbian national team is participating in the Mundijalito for this age group – the last time our national team played was under the name Yugoslavia in 1985.
