Support for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the U.S. presidential elections among Latino voters is at a dangerously low level, while her rival, former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump, has maintained his support percentage, according to a poll by the New York Times and Siena College.

As reported by the New York Times, the nationwide survey revealed that Kamala Harris is performing worse than the last three Democratic candidates for the White House and is vulnerable on a range of key issues, including the economy, immigration, and crime.

“Two-thirds of respondents said they believe Trump did not mean people like them when he spoke about immigrants,” the survey results indicated.

Latino voters have positioned themselves as a decisive voting group in the U.S. presidential elections.

The last Democrat to fall below 60 percent support among these voters was John Kerry, while over a decade ago, around 70 percent of Latinos supported Barack Obama’s reelection. Both Democrats and Republicans have focused on Latino voters this year, and the New York Times poll suggests that voter preferences could still shift.

The poll, which involved 902 participants, was conducted from September 29 to October 6, showing striking signs of support for Trump’s most aggressive immigration policies.
