The story of Bosa, a Serb woman who granted land for free to a Muslim family, shows that goodness and solidarity transcend all divisions.
In times when we often hear that biological brothers and sisters fight and do not speak to each other over a boundary line and a piece of land, a story of goodness and coexistence arrives from central Bosnia that restores faith in humanity. The main actors are a Muslim family and a Serb woman, Bosa, a woman whose selfless gesture left many speechless.
Faiza and her husband Ibrahim live in the returnee settlement of Vitovlje, at the foot of Vlašić, where they have only a small yard and almost no land of their own to cultivate. Right then Bosa enters their lives, a woman whose goodness changed their everyday existence.
“We have Bosa… Not even a biological mother is like that, like that woman is. She gives us everything, and completely for free,” says Faiza through tears.
Although they belong to different faiths, that was never an obstacle for them. On the contrary, their story testifies that true humanity knows neither borders nor divisions. Bosa and her family granted Faiza and Ibrahim all their land for use, without asking for a single dinar in return.
“She is a Serb, I am a Muslim, but with us there is no looking at who is who. Like a biological mother, she gave me the land to use,” says Faiza.
As she says, she has been cultivating Bosa’s property for years, and during all that time neither Bosa nor her family asked for any compensation.
“However many years I work that land, they never took a single dinar from us,” she adds.
Solidarity without borders
Their solidarity does not end only on the land they cultivate. Bosa’s sons, one of whom lives in Banja Luka and the other in Kneževo (formerly Skender Vakuf) in Republika Srpska, unreservedly support their mother in her decision to help her neighbors.
Besides granting Faiza and Ibrahim the land for use without any compensation, these neighbors help each other in everything. Thus, homemade eggs, honey, and other products regularly arrive from Bosa’s home to Faiza’s house, as another sign of thoughtfulness and good-neighborly relations that have lasted for years.
“We go to her place, and she gives us eggs because she has chickens. They also have their own bees, so they give us honey too. Kudos to them! I don’t know when I last bought eggs,” says Faiza with sincere admiration and gratitude in a video report published on Alen Avdić’s channel.
In a time when people are often divided by faith, nation, or other differences, the story of Bosa and Faiza reminds us that goodness, solidarity, and mutual respect are values that transcend all divisions. In the end, it is not important what someone is named or which faith they belong to, but what kind of person they are and what kind of heart they carry.
