Over the Serbian national basketball team, before every gathering, hangs the question regarding Nikola Jokic, and head coach Dusan Alimpijevic spoke about whether the best player in the world will be part of the team this summer.
In a conversation with Mozzart sport, Alimpijevic said that the Denver Nuggets star is expected to play for the national team.
– Nikola Jokic should be at both windows, in July and August.
As the head coach said, he has been in constant contact with Nikola since he succeeded Svetislav Pesic on the bench.
It is also clear to Alimpijevic that the basketball public wants to know what communication looks like with the Denver Nuggets star and three-time NBA MVP.
“Nothing was contentious from the first moment, that is a man with whom I have been in contact from the very first moment since I sat in the head coach position. Communication with that man takes place at the simplest and easiest possible level, he truly lives for the national team, even though at some moments it might not have seemed that way to some people, he is a man who is very excited about the national team. That is a man who called his teammates and thanked them for the fight in the previous windows. We expect, if things go this way and according to plan, of course we don’t know what all can happen by June 22, but in God’s name, and health, we expect him.”
He also revealed the situation with captain Bogdan Bogdanovic.
“With Bogdan, it is different. He has his own situation that he is resolving with his home club, he has certain minor health problems that are being resolved. I can say that it is certain he will skip the July window, but he will be there with the team for the August window.”
In July, Serbia plays against Switzerland and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the World Cup qualifiers.
