The well-known RTS sports commentator, Slobodan Šarenac, fell ill after the dramatic end of the Serbia vs. Finland game and the shocking elimination of the “Eagles” from the European Championship.
Paramedics responded immediately and provided him with the necessary medical assistance. According to Serbian media reports, his health is currently stable.
Slobodan Šarenac is one of the most famous names in Serbian sports journalism. For more than two decades, he has been covering and commentating on the most important basketball and sporting events, from the Olympic Games to European and World Championships. His distinctive style and the emotion with which he broadcasts matches have made him one of the most beloved voices for the local sports audience.
To recap, the Serbian national team failed to qualify for the Eurobasket quarterfinals, as they were defeated by Finland in the round of 16 in Riga with a score of 92-86 (28:24, 16:24, 24:18, 24:20). This unexpected defeat marked the end of the tournament for Svetislav Pešić’s team and caused great sadness among fans and the sports public.
