Iva Jović defeated her compatriot Emma Navarro after two sets 6:0, 6:3.
Jović, the world number 17, defeated the 25th player on the WTA list after one hour and 19 minutes.
In the third round, Jović will play against Naomi Osaka from Japan, who defeated Croatian Donna Vekić after two sets 7:6(1), 6:4.
Osaka, the world number 16, celebrated after one hour and 51 minutes.
Ukrainian Oleksandra Oleynikova also advanced to the third round, after defeating Australian Kimberly Birrell after three sets 6:3, 0:6, 7(10):6(5).
The Ukrainian will play in the third round against the better of the Shnaider – Kessler duel.
