Famous Croatian footballer Dario Šimić and the former Head of the Department for Tourism at the Service for Economy and Property-Legal Affairs of the State Administration Office of Šibenik-Knin County, Neda Livljanić, have been arrested in a major police operation, Jutarnji list learns.
It is suspected that Šimić, through Livljanić, illegally obtained the necessary permits for a camp in Tisno. Livljanić had already been detained previously on similar charges.
Who is Dario Šimić?
Dario Šimić (born November 12, 1975, in Zagreb) is one of the most famous and most decorated Croatian footballers in history, who sailed into entrepreneurial waters after finishing his sports career.
He started his professional career in Dinamo Zagreb (then Croatia), where he gained full affirmation. With great games, he secured transfers to Italian giants – first to Inter, and then to Milan, with whom he won the UEFA Champions League twice (in 2003 and 2007). During his career, he also played for the French club Monaco.
He was a pillar of the defense of the Croatian national team, with which he won a historical bronze medal at the World Cup in France in 1998. He is the first Croatian footballer to record 100 appearances for the national team (101 matches in total, four goals).
