The Serbia national football team has dropped four places in the latest FIFA rankings and now occupies 43rd position in the world. The “Eagles” thus recorded the biggest decline among the top 100 ranked national teams, which is a direct consequence of an unsuccessful June cycle and heavy defeats in friendly matches against Cape Verde and Mexico.
The updated rankings were published ahead of the start of the World Cup, which will be held over the coming weeks in the United States, Canada and Mexico. There were not many changes at the very top. The reigning world champion Argentina remained in first place, Spain held on to second position, while France slipped from first to third after an unexpected defeat to Ivory Coast.
Among the ten best national teams in the world are also England, Portugal and Brazil, while Morocco wrote a new page in its history by climbing to seventh place, marking its best ranking since FIFA began publishing this list. The top ten also includes Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
