On the electoral list of the Serbian Progressive Party, under number 43, is the president of the Bosniak-Serbian Alliance, Samir Tandir, who was sentenced to seven months in prison for a physical assault on Sead Veljović that occurred in 2020 in the center of Prijepolje. As stated in the verdict, on that occasion Tandir inflicted head and body injuries on Veljović using two meat tenderizers.

As local Sandžak media wrote, the incident took place in the evening hours during the night between September 22 and 23, 2020, in the Prijepolje neighborhood “Centrala”. According to Veljović’s claims, the then-MP of Muamer Zukorlić’s Justice and Reconciliation Party, Samir Tandir, physically attacked him using two meat tenderizers, as a result of which he suffered severe head, body, and hip injuries.

“On September 22, 2020, I was out for dinner with my wife Ilda at the ‘Kosač’ restaurant. Around 11 PM, she went to her parents’ house in Begluke, and I stayed behind with my friends. At six minutes past midnight, I sent her a message, but she didn’t reply, so I got worried and headed to their house. When I arrived, I saw the light was on and her car was parked in front. At the intersection near the bridge over the Seljašnica river, I noticed a black SUV driven by Samir Tandir, and my wife was getting out of the car,” Veljović stated, as reported by the Sandžačke portal.

Veljović recounted that shortly thereafter he called Tandir by phone to talk, and that the conversation took place the following morning, in front of the building where he lives.

“When I approached him, I asked him: ‘Samir, what were you two doing at that hour?’ To that he replied: ‘She is my secretary, and I am her boss.’ Immediately after, he started shouting: ‘Put your hands down!’, even though I hadn’t even raised my hands, I was completely calm. At that moment, he pulled out two hammers from his right hand – one wooden with a metal part, and the other metal – and started swinging at me.”

Veljović recounted that Tandir hit him in the temple with the first strike, and then on the forehead and crown of his head, after which he fell and lost consciousness.

“When I tried to get up, he kicked me in the hip, and then hit me again with the hammers on the head and body. I tried to grab his hands to stop him, but he kept swinging. My wife was screaming the whole time and trying to stop him, but he didn’t stop. At one point, a hammer fell to the concrete and broke apart, and he then fled into the building.”

After the attack, Veljović was transferred to the hospital in Užice, where severe physical injuries were diagnosed.

The area where the incident occurred is under video surveillance, and the recordings were the subject of a police investigation. Sandžačke also wrote that this was not the first time Samir Tandir found himself at the center of judicial proceedings. Proceedings were also conducted against him before the Higher Court in Belgrade for illegal possession of weapons, after a pistol was found in his bag in 2017.
