BRAZILIAN WOMAN BECAME A SERBIAN DAUGHTER-IN-LAW: She moved to Belgrade, gave birth to five children, then spoke about the similarities between our peoples!

Livia came to Belgrade from distant Brazil. She fell in love with our country, but also with a man named Milan, and decided to stay and give birth to five children. Livia Domingos Bjeloglav shared what her life looks like far from her homeland and what makes her happy here. It is also interesting that Livia speaks the Serbian language, and at the very beginning of the conversation, she explained how the process of learning our language went.

-It was a bit faster for me because when I came here, I started a Serbian language course at the Faculty of Philology, and that helped me a lot. After that, my husband insisted that we speak Serbian at home – she says with a smile.

Shortly after that, Livia told the story of how she met her husband Milan.

-We met through work; I was a consultant in a software company in Germany, and that same company had a branch in Serbia, where Milan was the director. Every year, the company organizes a ‘summer event,’ and that time it was in Budapest, and that’s where we met—through the company. I was already living in Germany, so it was much easier to come to Serbia – she said.

After three months they got engaged, and then married

This beautiful Brazilian woman points out that Milan and she got engaged after three months, and then, shortly after that, the wedding followed. As she says, everything happened within a time span of eight months.

-We got engaged very quickly, after three months, and then we got married, but I continued to work in Germany and Milan in Serbia. And then, after that, we decided to live together and start a family. The decision was difficult, considering that I worked there in Germany, I had a stable life and a job, but I wanted to be with Milan and to have a family, so it was a tough decision – she says.

Milan and Livia have five children, and now she has described what their daily life looks like. She admits it is “crazy” because they have many responsibilities regarding the children, especially the twins who are yet to turn 2 years old.

Also, this Brazilian woman did not hold back on compliments when it came to her husband, emphasizing that Milan is an extremely dedicated and hardworking father.

She added that the values of Serbs, when it comes to family and family ties, are almost identical to those nurtured by the people of Brazil. For that reason, she says, it was not difficult for her to fall in love with Milan and start a family with him.
