Serbia’s national shooting team continued its impressive medal run at the European Championship for junior men and women in Wrocław, adding another podium finish after its success in the air rifle and air pistol events.
On the sixth day of the competition, Serbia’s women’s team claimed the bronze medal in the 50-meter three-position small-bore rifle event. The medal-winning team consisted of Emilija Ponjavić, Natalija Pavlović, and Marija Stanković.
The bronze marked Serbia’s 13th medal at the European Championships in Wrocław.
The Serbian shooters delivered consistently strong performances, with Emilija Ponjavić, the only senior athlete on the team, making the biggest contribution. She finished 15th individually with 581 points. Ponjavić was in contention for a place in the final until the closing stages of qualification, but a couple of weaker shots in the final standing position dropped her below the top eight. She finished just three points short of qualifying for the medal round.
Natalija Pavlović placed 18th with 580 points, while Marija Stanković finished 21st with 579 points.
In the team standings, Serbia totaled 1,740 points, finishing just three points behind silver medalists Poland. The Czech Republic captured the gold medal.
Serbia’s men’s team narrowly missed the podium in the three-position rifle event, finishing fourth. Bronze medalists Poland edged the Serbian trio by five points.
Individually, Đorđe Savić placed 19th, Stefan Agović finished 21st, and Aleksa Rakonjac came in 23rd.
The Serbian shooters will conclude their participation at the European Championships on Sunday with the mixed pairs (“Duet”) three-position small-bore rifle competition.
