The Serbian national team in the Open U12 category won a bronze medal at the European Youth Team Chess Championship, held in Pardubice, Czech Republic.
The young Serbian chess players achieved their major success after a brilliant finish to the tournament, in which they defeated the Ukrainian team 3.5:0.5 in the final round. With this victory, Serbia secured third place at the championship.
A total of 66 teams and 220 players from various European countries took part in the competition, competing in four age categories – U12 and U18 in the Open category, as well as in the girls’ category.
Serbia’s bronze medal was won by young chess players Leonid Ivanović, Nikola Adamović, Miloš Pasula, Uroš Perunović and Matija Arsenijević, led by coaches Srđan Čarnić and Novak Pezelj.
Their success represents another significant result for Serbian chess and confirms the talent of the youngest generations, who continue to achieve success on the international stage.
