The Kosovo Police detained and questioned a man suspected of damaging the doors and exterior lighting of the Church of the Holy Savior in Prizren while under the influence of alcohol, during the night between August 18 and 19.

According to the Kosovo Police, the man is suspected of causing material damage to two entrance doors and the floodlights of the Church of the Holy Savior in Prizren.

After questioning, the competent prosecutor decided to release the suspect.

The case was referred to regular judicial proceedings under the classification of the criminal offense of “destruction or damage to property.”

Church built as early as 1330

The Church of the Holy Savior in Prizren was built around 1330. It was severely damaged during the March 2004 pogrom.

In September 2013, the doors of the Church of the Holy Savior were smashed and the gate was taken away, while the church was also broken into in 2022.
