Republika Srpska is beginning a solemn celebration of Republika Srpska Day and its 33rd birthday, under the slogan “Born for Eternity,” which will last for three days.
Republika Srpska was established on January 9, 1992, before the war events in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, under the original name of Serbian Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It was founded by Serbian deputies in the then Assembly of BiH, after they were outvoted on key issues regarding the survival of Yugoslavia, and members of the other two nations embarked on secession against the will of the Serbs who had the status of a constituent people.
Officials of Republika Srpska will lay wreaths at the Monument to the Fallen Fighters of the Army of Republika Srpska, at the Square of Fallen Fighters of the People’s Liberation War, at the Memorial Ossuary, and at the Memorial to the twelve Banja Luka babies.
