Three people were killed and eight more were wounded when multiple attackers opened fire at a restaurant in Brooklyn, New York, in the early morning hours on Sunday as the establishment was closing.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) responded to a report of a shooting at the “Taste of the City” restaurant on Franklin Avenue in the Crown Heights neighborhood, just before 3:30 a.m., police official Jessica Tisch said at a press conference. The deceased were identified as three men, aged 27, 35, and one whose age is unknown. The eight wounded were transported to local hospitals, but their condition is unknown. There have been no arrests yet in connection with the shooting, and the suspects have not been identified.
36 Casings Found
According to the New York Post, at least 36 shell casings were found at the scene. Videos posted on social media show police inside the restaurant next to a pool of blood and broken glass.
“We have the lowest number of armed incidents and shooting victims in the first seven months of the year since we started keeping records in New York,” Tisch said. “What happened this morning is a terrible thing and, fortunately, an anomaly.”
