The glass viewpoint “Kablar,” located at an altitude of 879 meters below the summit of Mount Kablar near Čačak, was officially opened today as a new tourist attraction in the Ovčar-Kablar Gorge.

“This is the first glass viewpoint in Serbia and one of the most attractive in Europe,” Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said during the visit, inviting everyone to come and see it.

He emphasized that the construction of the viewpoint is a tourism and development project and that the investment is expected to pay for itself within a year through tourist arrivals, ticket sales—which will cost 500 dinars—as well as additional spending in the area.

“In the past several years, we have invested one billion dinars in roads, parking areas, walking paths, the development of Ovčar Spa, a natural history center, an amphitheater, a dock, tourism infrastructure, and the viewpoint,” Vučić said.

He pointed out that he is proud the state has demonstrated through this project that economic development and environmental protection can go hand in hand.

The viewpoint has received its occupancy permit from the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, meaning that all legal requirements for its official use have been met. Vučić also said that the structure’s load-bearing capacity was tested to 132 tons.

From the viewpoint, visitors can see the territory of three municipalities, the area toward Kraljevo, a large part of the Lučani region and the Požega Basin, as well as the landscape stretching toward Arilje.

The Kablar viewpoint is expected to contribute to the development of the Ovčar-Kablar Gorge and enhance Čačak’s tourism offer.

Construction work on the viewpoint, which covers a total area of 1,000 square meters, including 200 square meters of enclosed space, was carried out by the company Energoprojekt.

The platforms and staircase of the viewpoint cover an area of 92 square meters.

When the construction contract for the viewpoint was signed in March 2022, it was announced that the total value of the project, including the preparation of project documentation and construction of the facility, would be around €2 million.

The opening ceremony was attended by Serbian National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabić and the leadership of the City of Čačak.
