American magazine Time has published its inaugural list of the 100 most influential figures in sports, and neither Novak Đoković nor Nikola Jokić made the cut.
Following its traditional annual lists of the 100 most influential people in public life, Time has now created a special ranking dedicated exclusively to the world of sports.
In addition to athletes, the list includes journalists, team owners, business executives, leaders of sports associations and leagues, and even YouTubers. The honorees are divided into four categories: Titans, Icons, Innovators, and Leaders. However, neither Nikola Jokić nor Novak Đoković appears among them.
Three-time NBA MVP and former NBA champion Nikola Jokić completed the previous season in historic fashion, recording his second consecutive season averaging a triple-double (27.7 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 10.7 assists). He finished second in the race for the NBA Most Valuable Player award and was later eliminated in the first round of the playoffs with the Denver Nuggets by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Novak Đoković, at the age of 39 and with 24 Grand Slam titles to his name, reached the final of the Australian Open. A subsequent injury forced him to spend an extended period away from competition, which affected his results. Notably, the only time Đoković appeared on Time‘s list of the 100 most influential people was back in 2012.
Given their popularity and achievements over many years, many would argue that both athletes have done enough to earn a place in at least one of the four categories.
With full respect for the efforts and accomplishments of everyone included—and without any intention of diminishing the success of others—you can review the Top 100 list yourself and decide whether Jokić and Đoković deserved a spot among the world’s most influential figures in sports.
