Bahrain today accused Iran of a drone attack. In a statement from the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that “a series of Iranian drones” targeted the country, but no details were provided regarding the intended target, AP reports. Bahrain is, notably, the base of the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet.
Earlier today, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement, reported by the state news agency IRNA, saying it had targeted several locations of the “American terrorist army in the region.” It was not specified which areas were targeted.
The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated today that it “strongly condemns” the alleged attack by multiple Iranian drones on its territory, describing it as a violation of sovereignty and a threat to the safety of citizens and residents.

In the statement, the ministry noted that Bahrain considers such actions to undermine regional and international efforts to reduce tensions, and that responsibility for, as stated, destabilizing the region lies with Tehran.
The ministry assessed that the attacks constitute a violation of international law and norms prohibiting the targeting of civilian facilities, emphasizing that Bahrain will continue to protect its security and territorial integrity.
Bahraini authorities also referred to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), stating that the continuation of alleged attacks is contrary to international efforts and obligations undertaken under a Memorandum of Understanding signed on June 17 this year.

The statement also calls on the UN Security Council to take steps to ensure, according to Bahrain, compliance with international obligations and to establish responsibility for the incidents.
Iran has not yet responded to the claims made in the statement from the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
