Jokić’s Denver made an important move! The Nuggets brought in an experienced NBA expert who could be a great addition to the bench.
While Nikola Jokić awaits the start of the new NBA season, Denver continues to put together the puzzle around the team that will once again attack the championship ring.
As reported by well-informed ESPN insider Shams Charania, Dave Joerger has become the new lead assistant to head coach David Adelman. The Nuggets thus brought a man with vast experience to the bench, who worked for years as the head coach of Memphis and Sacramento.
Joerger has more than a decade of NBA experience behind him. As head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, he achieved a record of 147 wins and 99 losses, leading the team to the playoffs three consecutive times. After that, he led the Sacramento Kings, and then worked as an assistant coach in Philadelphia and Milwaukee, while in recent years he was also a consultant in Cleveland.
American media state that experience was precisely what was decisive. After the departure of certain members of the coaching staff, Denver wanted a man who would be strong support for Adelman, and the choice fell on a coach known for solid defense and work with young players. Some analysts assess that his arrival could be one of the most important reinforcements for the Nuggets this summer, precisely because of the defensive identity he brings to the team.
For Nikola Jokić, this means that he will have another experienced name in the coaching staff who throughout his career worked with numerous NBA stars and led teams in the playoffs. In Denver, they believe that precisely the combination of Adelman’s energy and Joerger’s experience will help the Nuggets get back into the fight for the very top of the Western Conference.
