Rade Bogdanovic, a former football player, decided to react after his racist comment went around the planet, and RTS reacted as well.
The former football player now works as an analyst on RTS, and he decided to apologize for inappropriate comments at the expense of football players after the match between Belgium and Iran (0:0) at the World Cup.
“I sincerely apologize for my statement regarding dark-skinned football players,” Bogdanovic told “Reuters”.
Many world media outlets carried the reports of the Serbian media that condemned Bogdanovic’s statement. All of this might have even gone unnoticed had Bogdanovic not stated it on RTS, and the Public Service also decided to speak out through its Management Board.
Of course, RTS first distanced itself from the man it had hired (therefore, considering him good enough to represent RTS), and then also apologized.

“We wish to inform the public that Mr. Rade Bogdanovic is not employed in our company, but is engaged as an expert commentator for the duration of the tournament. We want to use this opportunity to apologize, as a broadcaster, for the statement made in our program which refers to members of a certain race,” the statement to “Reuters” read.
Bogdanovic and RTS did not choose to do this during a live broadcast, even though he was also part of a special show the day after the statement.
It all started due to his comment “that blacks do not have concentration for longer than 60, 70 minutes.” Then he tried to “justify” this comment.
“I’m really not a racist, but these black players don’t have the concentration to endure longer than 60-70 minutes. I played with them and when we played matches sometimes, we had to guard our own players sometimes, so they wouldn’t make a mistake. Really, that’s how it is, current football is like that. At the World Cup level, this cannot happen.”
To the presenter’s remark that the French also have a very large number of black players who play very well for the full 90 minutes, Bogdanovic replied:
“Let’s not get into the nitty-gritty now, although we could talk about that too, they make mistakes as well. I’m not generalizing, but in any case, the vast majority lacks concentration and then mistakes like this happen,” he stated.
