On the first day of the European Championship, Serbia won three medals.
In the Masters category, Goran Žepina from Kać won third place and a bronze medal. In very strong competition, he managed to reach the semifinals and thus win his first European medal.
In the Grand Masters category, Stevan Jankov from Rumenka near Novi Sad won third place. Stevan had excellent matches and showed great heart. He defeated champions from Norway, Switzerland, Spain, and other countries.
In the Senior Grand Masters category, Branislav Jakšić from Novi Sad won third place. In the semifinals, Branislav lost on fouls and thus failed to enter the finals and defend his European Champion title from last year. Radiša Milojković from Petrovac na Mlavi won 4th place in the Grand Masters category.
The Serbian national team at the European Championship consists of 11 representatives in several categories (Masters, Juniors, people with disabilities, and Seniors).
The European Championship in Hungary lasts from May 9–20, and we expect many more medals in other categories, states the president of the Serbian Armwrestling Sports Federation, Nenad Smiljković.
