Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Smederevo, acting on the order of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in this city, arrested 20 individuals from Cacak last night due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of violent behavior at a sporting event.
They are suspected of attempting to forcibly enter a part of the stadium not reserved for fans yesterday after the start of the Serbian Super League football match between the teams FK “Smederevo 1924” and FK “Borac,” while disguised with masks and hoods and carrying lit torches, metal bars, wooden bats, beer bottles, and belts. They are also suspected of throwing two torches onto the field and two toward the audience.
During the police intervention, they resisted and injured seven police officers.
Through efficient action, police members overcame them and brought them to the premises of the Police Directorate in Smederevo, and six wooden bats, four metal bars, three torches, a knife, two phantom masks, two glass bottles, and two belts were confiscated from them.
By order of the prosecutor’s office, the police detained 20 individuals for up to 48 hours, and they will be brought before the prosecutor’s office along with a criminal report, while criminal reports will be filed against two individuals in regular proceedings due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of violent behavior at a sporting event.
Also, appropriate misdemeanor charges will be filed against 11 individuals in accordance with the Law on Public Order and Peace.
