Nemanja R. (30), who died in Surcin tonight around two hours after midnight when he flew off the road and hit a concrete cross, is suspected of murdering Ugljesa T. (58) from Surcin. At the moment of the accident, Nemanja R. was engaged in a live broadcast on Facebook, and his last words, as well as the moment he experienced the crash, can be heard in the recording.
Nemanja R. went live twice. In the first video, which lasts about eight minutes, he is seen driving while loud music plays, and he is heard saying: “Only for my wife!”, which were his last words, considering that shortly thereafter he experienced the traffic accident in which he died; the impact of the car into the cross at the roundabout in the Petrovcic settlement is heard on the recording itself.
At the very beginning of the recording, the song “Da si srecna, pisala mi ne bi” by Asim Brkan is heard, and at one point, the sound of a phone—specifically a call on Facebook Messenger—is heard, which Nemanja R. ignores and lets ring, filming himself driving over 100 kilometers per hour, before dedicating the song, as he said, to his wife.
Shortly after, about a minute later, a loud impact is heard on the recording and the phone is seen flying. The recording continues for a full minute, showing only light and the sound of dogs barking in the background while Nemanja R. shows no signs of life.
Killed a man, then crashed his car
The drama began when the victim’s daughter reported to the police that her father was not answering. Upon arriving at the address in Surcin, police officers found traces of blood and scattered items throughout the house. Unofficially, in the bedroom, in a bed drawer, they found the lifeless body of Ugljesa T. It is suspected that the victim and the suspect were drinking together on the fatal day, after which an argument and the crime occurred. Nemanja R. then fled the address in an “Opel” car that belonged to the victim.
Allegedly, the killer liquidated the victim with a cold weapon and then moved the bed over the body!
Only a few hours after the murder, around two o’clock after midnight, Nemanja R. was involved in a gruesome accident in the Petrovcic settlement. Moving at an enormous speed, he lost control of the “Opel,” flew off the roundabout, and violently struck a concrete cross. The car was completely crushed, and parts were scattered meters around. A large oil stain is visible on the asphalt, while the earth around the cross is completely dug up.
Eyewitnesses state that they pulled a young man who showed no signs of life from the crushed vehicle.
The murdered Ugljesa T. and the suspect Nemanja R. were previously known to the police. Nemanja R. had dozens of criminal acts in his file, mostly thefts and robberies. This time, his flight from the law ended fatally at the roundabout, where he remained dead on the spot. The police are still securing both scenes, and the investigation into all circumstances of this unprecedented case continues.
-The emergency medical team arrived at the scene very quickly; however, they could only confirm death. Unfortunately, a young man, around 30 years old, perished, so unfortunately, this time we could do nothing for him – doctor Gordana Pavlovic told RTS.
