The Higher Court in Zaječar accepted three appeals submitted three days ago by the legal team of the citizens’ group “Knjaževac with Students,” N1 has learned unofficially. After the expiration of the 72-hour deadline for making a decision, the Municipal Election Commission in Knjaževac is currently in session.
The appeals were submitted after the Municipal Election Commission refused to proclaim their electoral list.
Representatives of this list, as reported by N1, previously stated that the commission violated the law several times — that it did not register errors in the SNS list, but instead allowed them to supplement documentation, while in their list it disputed part of the signatures and did not even consider the other part. Because of this, they decided to turn to the Higher Court in Zaječar.
The dispute over electoral lists in Knjaževac has been ongoing for almost two weeks. SNS first submitted signatures and the list was initially proclaimed, but was later returned due to reported irregularities. In the meantime, the opposition list “Knjaževac with Students” submitted signatures, but it was also rejected.
During the resubmission of the lists, the municipal building was under police security, while the work of the election commission was at one point interrupted.
