Student Roland Šipoš, who is on the list “Voice of the Youth of the Municipality of Kula” in the local elections that will be held in this municipality on March 29, received death threats, but despite that he says he will not give up and that it shows the fear of the other side, which, as he points out, has nothing to offer to the citizens.
Šipoš told N1 that the threats arrived through a call from a hidden phone number to his brother.
“They threatened him that they would kill me, kill my sister, kill him and there were various other threats, but these are the most critical ones. I can say that I do not feel fear,” he said.
He adds that the threats are not an isolated incident and that, as in previous cases, he reported them to the police.
“So far we have had various threats, we reported them but without success. We report them, they say they will react and nothing actually happens,” he explains.
He states that he does not know who sent him the threats, but that he suspects the regime.
“Because they see us as a threat, they see our list, they see the young people in Kula and the only one who benefits from things like this is the regime. This shows their fear. They have nothing to offer this city and this people and the only thing they have left is to try to intimidate us, to make us withdraw. And we do not feel fear, we know why we are here and we know who we are. The people of Kula know who we are, so I do not feel fear. Of course there is something, I am concerned for my safety, but that I have some great fear, no. There is enormous support from my fellow citizens of Kula,” he says.
Another student who is on the list “Voice of the Youth of the Municipality of Kula”, Ljiljana Knežević, also received threats through social networks. She also told N1 that this will not intimidate her.
“That is such a cowardly move and they show so much of their weakness by doing all this that they are doing. Of course this cannot scare us for even a second and we, as Roland said, the citizens of Kula know who we are. They know how long we have been advocating for the improvement of our municipality and, simply, such cowardly moves cannot harm us as much as they themselves can harm themselves with these actions,” says Ljiljana.
