Orthodox believers in Serbia are celebrating Christmas today, and the celebration began with midnight liturgies. This morning at nine, Patriarch Porfirije served the Christmas liturgy in the Temple of Saint Sava, after which the česnica was broken.
The president of the Union of Bakers, Zoran Pralica, told N1 that in the last few years, the breaking of the Christmas česnica has become more widespread, and that every year more than 5,000 citizens attend.

According to him, this year’s česnica weighed 260 kilograms and was composed of 5,200 pieces, so-called baker’s dough balls.
Inside it were 33 gold coins symbolizing the years of Jesus.
