Serbian tennis player Aleksandra Krunić is facing a lengthy layoff. Following an MRI examination, it was determined that Aleksandra had torn the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee, along with meniscus damage. It is therefore estimated that Aleksandra Krunić will be sidelined for eight to nine months.

It should be recalled that Aleksandra, together with her partner Ana Danilina, had to retire from their doubles match against Tatjana Maria and Zeynep Sönmez, despite leading 1–0 in sets, while the second set was 6–5. At that moment, Krunić felt pain in her knee and had to withdraw from the US Open.
Aleksandra Krunić and Ana Danilina were the third seeds in the doubles competition and were expected to challenge for the title at the US Open, but instead came the bad news, and after retiring from the match while leading, she will have to take an extended break from the sport.
