A woman who claims she was sexually assaulted by Sean “Diddy” Combs has amended her lawsuit to include allegations that she was also attacked by producer and rapper Jay-Z at the same party, CNN reports.
The lawsuit was originally filed against Combs in October, but on Sunday, the woman added Sean Carter, the rapper and businessman known as Jay-Z, as a defendant in the civil lawsuit.
Carter is the first well-known individual to be accused of sexual assault in connection with Combs.
In a statement to CNN, Carter called the allegations “so egregious that I’m asking you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Anyone who would commit such a crime against a minor should be imprisoned, don’t you agree?”
Combs is on trial on charges of sex trafficking, conspiracy to commit racketeering, and related prostitution charges. Combs has pleaded not guilty and denied all allegations in roughly 30 civil lawsuits filed against him.
The woman, identified as Jane Doe, says she was 13 years old when she was allegedly assaulted by Combs and Carter at a party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. She claims she became ill after drinking a beverage at the party and went to a nearby bedroom. She alleges that Carter raped her first, followed by Combs. According to the lawsuit, she hit Combs and fled the party.
Carter was initially identified in the lawsuit as “Celebrity A.”
According to the lawsuit, Jane Doe’s attorneys contacted Carter with a proposal for “mediation to resolve the matter.” “Upon information and belief, Jay-Z responded to that request by not only filing a completely baseless lawsuit, but also orchestrating a campaign of intimidation, harassment, and stalking of plaintiff’s counsel, their families, employees, and former associates in an attempt to silence plaintiff from naming Jay-Z in this case. That attempt has failed. Moreover, plaintiff has decided to file this amendment in response to Carter’s egregious conduct,” the lawsuit states.
In his response to CNN on Sunday – which was addressed to Jane Doe’s attorney – Carter called the mediation request an “attempted shakedown.” He also said that the lawyer “whom I have researched is apparently known for these types of stunts!”
CNN also contacted Carter’s wife, Beyoncé Knowles, for comment.

In his statement, Carter added that his “only regret” is for his family: “My wife and I will have to sit down with our children, one of whom is the age where their friends will surely see media reports and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain to them the cruelty and greed of people. I apologize for another loss of innocence. Children should not have to go through this at such a young age.”
CNN reported in November that an anonymous celebrity had filed a lawsuit against the Texas attorney representing Jane Doe, claiming to be a victim of extortion. The celebrity accused Houston attorney Tony Buzby and his firm of “shamelessly attempting to extort enormous sums of money from him, or else they would publicly file completely false and horrific allegations against him.”
The celebrity’s attorneys further alleged that Buzby had “threatened to publish completely fabricated and scandalous sexual assault allegations,” including “multiple instances of the rape of minors, both male and female,” if their client “refused to meet their demands.”
Buzby denied the extortion allegations in an Instagram post, writing that his firm “will not allow the powerful and their expensive attorneys to intimidate or silence sexual assault survivors,” as well as in a statement to CNN.
“If you’re trying to hide your identity and claim you didn’t do anything wrong, it doesn’t seem very smart to take this approach,” Buzby said in an email to CNN at the time.
“We’ll sort it out in due course.”
“I believe that with full public disclosure, all of this will be cleared up,” Buzby wrote, as reported by Nova.rs.
