Members of the Traffic Police Directorate stopped a twenty-year-old driver last night around 1:00 AM in the territory of Surčin who was speeding at as much as 215 kilometers per hour in an “Audi” with Austrian registration plates on a section of the highway where the speed limit is 100 kilometers per hour.

As announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the vehicle was driven by M. R. (20), a citizen of Serbia, who was removed from traffic following the inspection. A misdemeanor charge was filed against him for aggressive driving.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs warns that, despite intensified controls and numerous preventive activities, 35 traffic participants have died in traffic accidents since the beginning of July, including 11 people under the age of 30.

The police once again appealed to drivers to respect traffic regulations, especially speed limits, emphasizing that unadjusted and unauthorized speed are the most common cause of traffic accidents resulting in fatalities and severe injuries.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, traffic police will continue with intensified controls and consistent application of legal authority against drivers who commit the most serious traffic violations, with the aim of increasing traffic safety and protecting human lives.
